Cornell University EMBA students traveled to Germany to explore topics like technology in the auto industry, the future of media integrity, and sustainable brewing. It was a busy 8 days starting in Munich and ending on the roof of the German Parliament for a private farewell dinner.
The program began with an exploration of the automotive industry in Germany, which is one of the largest employers in the world and a hub for globally recognized automakers. The students visited two companies in Munich to explore different perspectives of the industry.
"The team at WorldStrides delivered a fabulous, engaging, and memorable German adventure for our EMBA students," said faculty leader and Professor at SC Johnson College of Business, Drew Pascarella. "They went to work building out a meticulously planned immersive experience that reflected our requirements, spotlighted local German business and social culture (accentuated by expert local guides), and anticipated the needs and expectations of a large group."

Students participated in a tour of MAN Truck & Bus Group. The Munich plant has over 9,000 employees and spans over 1 million square meters. The visit gave them a first-hand look at the auto manufacturing process and a rare opportunity to see the production line up close. “Our tour guide was extremely well informed and I was impressed with how close to the production line we were,” said Sara Lynn Ianni, program lead and Executive Director of EMBA programs at Cornell University.
The EMBA students also participated in a strategy challenge with BMW, giving them the opportunity to discuss topics like the auto industry’s new wave of technology, partnerships between tech companies and automakers, and the future of the industry as a whole.
After Munich, the program traveled to Berlin to visit several top German companies including Axel Springer SE, a large media and publishing company. The group received an exclusive tour of the award-winning headquarters and attended sessions led by the Head of Global People and Culture and the Managing Director of Digital Ventures. Session topics included digital transformation and a discussion on the integrity of news.
“These presenters were phenomenal. It was an incredibly thoughtful presentation, and I appreciated that they posed a question to our students. The students were also impressed that they went above and beyond to host them for a tour of the building,” added Sara Lynn.
After 8 days, the program ended with a private dinner on the rooftop of the German Parliament’s Reichstag building, where students were able to take in the views and reflect on their experiences from the program. “If you aspire to deliver a world-class global business experience for EMBA students, you should work with WorldStrides. They delivered,” Drew added about the experience as a whole.
