We’re proud to offer scholarships for traveling students each year. This scholarship program evolved from our belief in the value of creating future global leaders and citizens through transformational study abroad experiences.
We’re committed to helping more university students study abroad, experience different perspectives, and immerse themselves in different cultures and perspectives. The following scholarships are open to all undergraduate and graduate students traveling on a WorldStrides faculty-led program. (Executive students are not eligible).

Natalie Shea Memorial Scholarship
$3,000
Natalie Shea was a beloved colleague at WorldStrides who became a friend to many. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology and Russian Language, she backpacked her way across Europe and Russia. This experience further inspired her love for the study of languages and cultures, which ultimately led her to WorldStrides. Natalie’s passion for travel was infectious, and she was an enthusiastic supporter of higher education travel for all.
After her passing in the Fall of 2020, we wanted to celebrate her enthusiasm for travel, cultural understanding, and the Russian language by offering a scholarship in her name. Through Natalie’s legacy, we hope to inspire deserving students to explore the world through a new lens for years to come.
When applying for this scholarship, you’ll be asked to submit a personal statement based on this prompt:
In honor of Natalie’s love of exploration and foreign languages, describe how travel has allowed, or will allow, you to better understand a culture or language different than your own.

The WorldStrides Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship is extremely valuable to me because it has allowed me, as a Black student, to travel the world—an opportunity that has historically been difficult for many who look like me. I plan to take full advantage of this opportunity by learning every day of my trip and exploring Iceland to gain exposure and invaluable skills. This experience will not only enrich my academic journey but broaden my personal and professional horizons as I study Supply Chains and Operations Management in Reykjavik.
Bryce E., Villanova University

Being chosen as a recipient for the Natalie Shea Memorial Scholarship means the absolute world to me. It has not only made my dreams of studying abroad a reality but has also reinforced the significance of education as a gift that transcends all barriers, including financial ones. Inspired by Natalie Shea’s passion for travel, exploration, and diverse cultures, I am eager to represent Arizona State University as I engage with the ancient shrines of Tokyo and beyond.

Higher Ed Traveler Scholarship Winner, 2023
This scholarship is opening a whole new world for me. Winning this scholarship means I can finally venture outside of the United States and not have to worry about the financial side of things. It means not having to lose sleep because I am too busy trying to get the money to travel. This scholarship is the beginning of my journey traveling to other countries, seeing and living the different cultures, and expanding my knowledge via hands-on learning. I am incredibly thankful for being the recipient of the diversity, equity and inclusion WorldStrides scholarship.
